Yoga for children. Take care of health from a young age
In recent years, yoga in our country has become incredibly popular. You can read about what yoga is, what its directions are, how yoga is useful, how it develops in Ukraine, in a non-trivial interview with a yoga instructor Dominika. Definitely give an answer to the question – “what is yoga?” very difficult. But if we consider yoga as a fitness area for children, then we can say that these are exercises aimed at strengthening all muscle groups, improving the condition of the spine, and also relaxing the body and calming the nervous system.
The modern rhythm of life makes more and more people resort to yoga exercises, and this is very good, because a person just needs to keep his body healthy in a metropolis. But as they say, take care of your health from a young age. Therefore, today many fitness centers offer children’s yoga classes. It is difficult to unequivocally say at what age children should start yoga classes. Most specialists are inclined to believe that starting yoga classes is recommended from the age of five. After all, modern children are not the most correct and calm way of life. Many of them already have severe scoliosis by the 3rd grade – spinal curvature, which in the future can lead to serious consequences and poor health. Not one hundred scientific articles have been written about this. Unfortunately, the number of healthy publications does not increase the number of healthy children, but rather the opposite.
Back pain from a young age is the least that awaits a person and an incorrectly formed spine. Again, not all children now receive the motor activity necessary at their age, most, like their parents, lead a sedentary lifestyle. Modern technologies, computer games, mobile phones, unlimited access to the Internet, social networks … It seems that the list of barriers to physical activity can be endless.
Parents overload other children themselves with all sorts of circles and sections. The nervous system of a growing child simply does not have time to relax.
What is yoga good for children?
Yoga for children is aimed at the correct formation of the spine, at the comprehensive strengthening of the muscles of the back and press, legs, arms, and in general all parts of the body. Its benefits are the same as that of adult yoga, but there are features that distinguish it from classical yoga.
For example, classes for young children from 5 to 8 years old should take place in an interesting way, otherwise the child will get tired of doing yoga very quickly and he will again plunge into the limitless and fascinating world of computer games. Classes should be held in a pleasant atmosphere for children. Exercises that are given to children do not require the most correct stance, as in adults. The main thing is that the children try to do them without overloading the muscles. By and large, children’s yoga in many ways resembles a complex of gymnastic exercises, familiar to us from the time of our childhood. But in our time, thanks to marketing, charging is uninteresting, and yoga sounds proudly))).
It is also not necessary to monitor breathing during the performance of tasks, it is still difficult for children to concentrate simultaneously on the correct stance and the correct breathing. The child may feel dizzy, so he should breathe in a rhythm convenient for him. Naturally, the poses for children are chosen simple – these are the poses of a plow, cobra, locust, touching the head with a knee. After attending several classes in children, there is a decrease in nervousness, hyperactivity, general sedation, healthy sound sleep.
Of course, if you care about the future health of your child, then before giving the baby to one place or another, find out about the instructor’s qualifications, how good and competent he is, read reviews about him. A well-chosen instructor for a child means much more than for an adult. At the same time, a child yoga instructor should not only be a qualified practitioner, but also possess rich knowledge in pedagogy, psychology, and child physiology. The main thing to remember, the task of any specialist working with children is not to harm!
