Children’s fitness: how useful is it for your child?
Only recently, the baby took its first steps, and now the family is already going to advice – where do we start to take the child for his physical development? From this article you will learn what children’s fitness is, how it is useful and what fitness clubs offer.
Children’s Training Mode
Like an adult, children’s fitness is not a separate sport, but a large group of different physical training systems. In the vast majority of cases, training with children is carried out in groups of 10-15 people. This is the optimal amount that allows the trainer not only to “keep track” of everyone and pay enough attention to everyone, but also to ensure the game orientation of each lesson. The groups are completed according to age categories – 3-5, 6-8, 9-11, 12-14 years.
The main difference between children’s fitness and sports sections is that the child is not evaluated in terms of the prospects of high Olympic achievements. The current level of physical fitness, height and weight are not criteria for dropping out or enrolling in a group of one or another type of fitness for children. But a health certificate will be needed. Nevertheless, if the baby is shown physiotherapy exercises, for example, with scoliosis, in fitness clubs you can find a trainer for individual lessons, who has a diploma of instructor in exercise therapy.
Children’s fitness and its benefits
The number of classes per week and their duration also depends on the age of the children, and will not make it possible to overload the growing body:
3-5 years – 2 times a week, 30 minutes each;
6-8 years – 2 times a week, 40 minutes each;
9-11 years old – 2-3 times a week, 45 minutes each;
12-14 years – 2-3 times a week, for 1 hour.
In the structure of each training session, the time for outdoor games and relay races is from 50 to 30%, and the lesson takes place only in a playful manner and in the style of imitation of adults. No attention is paid to the competitive aspect, and a comparative assessment of “who is better or worse” is prohibited.
The benefits and benefits of fitness for children
Children’s fitness is certainly in favor, and not only for health. He helps:
learn to establish communication with peers;
learn what is individual and group discipline;
spend “extra” energy;
to develop the musculoskeletal system harmoniously;
strengthen the immune system, heart, blood vessels, lungs and vestibular apparatus;
master important motor skills;
learn to control your body;
be able to quickly reproduce unfamiliar difficult coordination movements;
to improve indicators of flexibility and speed reactions of the body;
to form a sense of rhythm and the ability to move, getting into musical beats;

In addition, the formation and manifestation of emotional-volitional qualities is taking place in fitness classes. Observation of the child, assessment of his behavior and physical characteristics will allow the trainer to give advice on the appropriateness of practicing a particular sport, or to suggest which direction of fitness is suitable in the future.
The benefits of children’s fitness
Varieties of children’s fitness
Children’s fitness for the youngest (3-5 years old), as a rule, does not have a name. If it is, it is more likely invented for “beauty” and does not reflect its content. The non-game part of the lesson includes elementary gymnastic exercises, dance movements, simple yoga asanas in the stalls: Birch, Fish, Boat, Zhabka, Twine, as well as the balance of Tsapelka and Swallow. If there is a park or a sports ground near the fitness club, then developmental classes can take place both in the hall and in the fresh air.
The main part of fitness lessons takes on a narrower focus in groups for children from 6 years old. Here you can already focus on its name. Let us cite as an example the directions that are gaining popularity, “fashionable for mothers” and interesting and useful for children:
Fitball-kids – gymnastics with a large inflatable, as well as different sizes of “regular” and stuffed balls. Regular workouts ensure correct posture, flexible spine, well-developed back and abdominal muscles.
Nia-children’s – a combination of elements from different dance styles, yoga asanas and ligaments from oriental health gymnastics and martial arts techniques. An excellent technique that allows you to develop coordination of movements and overall endurance.
Bosu-kids – exercises on special hemispheres, moving platforms, rollers, aero-step platforms. Strengthens muscles, ligaments and tendons of the lower extremities, smoothly and gradually strengthens the vestibular apparatus.

It gives all children the opportunity to join the world of dance, develop plasticity, increase overall physical performance and stretching, and feel irresistible.
Children aerial yoga – performing exercises and holding positions in linen suspensions.
